I am a simulation engineer with years of experience in explicit dynamics and material modeling. Throughout my career, I faced a recurring challenge: finding accurate, high-quality material models for simulations. After years of collecting materials from research papers, technical forums, and conducting my own experiments, I realized that there was no comprehensive database or marketplace for simulation-ready materials.
This website was created to bridge that gap by providing a rich collection of Johnson and Cook material models tailored for simulations, particularly for software like Ansys Explicit Dynamics and LS-DYNA. My collection includes hundreds of material models sourced from publicly available research, shared on Discord servers, and developed in my own projects.
Where possible, I provide direct links to the original sources so that the authors receive proper credit, and users can review the documentation for context. I highly recommend verifying that the materials are suitable for your specific use case and reading the accompanying documentation when available. While I strive for accuracy, the responsibility for their proper use lies with you.
The core feature of the site is the ability to download simulation-ready XML files containing the Johnson and Cook material models, allowing for seamless integration into your projects. Currently, we offer more than X materials, and the collection is continually expanding.
While the database is currently optimized exclusively for Johnson and Cook models, future updates will include support for alternative material models. Each material can have various properties, such as Johnson and Cook Strength and Failure models, isotropic properties (including shear modulus, bulk modulus, Young's modulus, or Poisson's ratio), and equations of state (such as Grüneisen shock EOS) with their parameters. Additionally, other physical properties like density, specific heat, and Brinell hardness are included to offer comprehensive data for accurate simulations.
The purchasable materials are offered in tiers: Free, Basic, Standard, and . While the amount of data provided in each material and its overall quality does not always correlate with the tier, the goal is to offer premium quality for premium pricing. Higher-tier materials are generally more complete and contain a broader set of parameters, while lower-cost materials often include only the essential base properties. Regardless of the tier, users can expect high-quality, reliable material data for their simulations.
Please note that when purchasing access to these materials, you are paying for the services provided by this platform, including the convenience of downloading, data visualization, and organization. Any materials sourced from other authors remain the intellectual property of their creators, and credit is given accordingly.
If you are the author of any of these materials and would like to discuss their use on this site, feel free to contact me at business.herrherk@gmail.com.
